Local Wine Festival Serves as Springboard
It was in the early 1950s when the entrepreneur Rudolf Kurz, head and namesake of the Illertissen-based company RUKU (later RUKUevent GmbH, today Zingerle Group Deutschland GmbH), made an invention that "worked" right away. The newly developed folding furniture lock made it possible to connect a table top with its table legs in such a way that the table could be stably folded up and down again. The beer tent set was invented and patented shortly afterwards.
The new event furniture not only convinced the inventor during its first use at the Wine Festival of Illertissen. Soon it turned into a great business idea that became a real hit. To this day, numerous customers from all over the world rely on the original beer tent sets from RUKU1952®.
In Demand Worldwide
In the meantime, the sets not only belong in every marquee and at every garden party, but are a cultural asset of Germany and especially of Bavaria. In the Munich City Museum, some of the first sets that stood at the world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich are on display.
